Service is defined or used in many ways within these days. To serve opthers is to help them, providing them what they need or to contribute something especially the poor and the needy. To serve others is also done in many different schools today, it is one way of giving or sharing one’s blessings to others. To serve is somewhat giving one’s self to others without expecting anything in return.

Today, people’s motif or intention to serve is that to help and or satisfy the needs of others that they cannot provide. Service is most noble when it is motivated by love. It could also be mercy or pity that drives them out to help. There are quite a number of services being offered by the government and the Church now a days. That is to help these people with clean intentions.

The weakening of selfless service might be due to materialism and individualism in our society today. Most people think of their own benefit, they don’t think of others who need it the most . They hesitate to give or was just force to give because it might be a shame for them if they will not. They think only others will be advantage and they won’t receive anything in return. It is not being selfish but wahat they think is money than the poor.
